I wrote this poem at Easter, we were all getting ready for an Easter celebration, one of the first where we were all together in Northern California again, and it brought back many memories of past Easters, the children egg hunting, huge bunnies and lots of wonderful memories of fun times. They are all grown up and soon to have children of their own. Traditions will still be there-renewal, family, love and spirituality.
Easter-
rise again
A new start,
eggs and bunnies,
See’s Do-do eggs
and hiding Easter baskets,
old eggs found a
year later under a
seat cushion.
Thank God it was
plastic-still had
Reese’s candy in it.
Hay covered chocolate,
the plans of Easter
and egg design
Panda bears and RX7
eggs and dying
them crazy colors and
glitter that took me a year
to clear from the house.
Egg salad for a week,
it doesn’t get any better,
traditions, things,
that bind families.
Spiritual-rising again
the spirit lives on
in many ways.
Love, forgiveness,
sacrifice and starting
afresh-a chance for
renewal.
Mindful that each moment
is special &
that we are all held
in this special bond called
family.
