I created this poem when my husband and I first toured the home we bought in Laguna Beach.  We had been looking for a house for years, we have lived in it 3 years now and still totally and completely in love with it. BTW we painted over the mermaid on the fountain and the checkerboard pattern on the house, it will always be our dream home.

Walking through
a sea of blue, just
outside the bedroom
a fireplace on
the wall, so romantic
in the bedroom.
A roof top deck
with a 180 degree view
of the ocean and
Catalina.
We look at each
other-our eyebrows
raised and a smile
on our lips.
Is this the one?
The one we have
searched six years
for?
We look into each
others eyes and smile-
this is it.
A crazy mermaid
on a fountain,
an outdoor shower
a subterranean garden
and lots of beautiful
full to the ground windows.
An inside laundry
two bathrooms,
an ocean view
in the town
that is our very
first choice to live in
the beautiful and artistic
community Laguna Beach.
A quick two blocks
walk to 1000 steps beach.
Facing directly
west, for awe inspiring
sunsets, and a view of
Catalina, our dream,
more than we wanted to
spend, but does a dream
have a price to it?
A little crazy,
a one car garage
No storage and
a bit too small.
Barely any walls,
too small a kitchen,
A green exterior
with a checker board
detail front and center.
Marble bathrooms
marble fireplaces,
a 1/2 naked mermaid
that my amusing neighbors
joke is Disney Porn on
our fountain, but it
is perfect for us!!
That smile becomes
knowing.
Knowing this is the
place where happiness
and dreams and love
continue to flourish.
This is our house
and beauty, fun, creativity,
and many happy family gatherings
will abide here.
It is our home, our heart
it is the fulfillment
of many dreams and hopes.
